This years CABEC Conference is set to take place in Cambria, California at the beautiful Cambria Pines Lodge. This coastal city is host to a October-month-long celebration aptly titled, “Cambria Scarecrow Festival.” It’s the celebration of, (you guessed it), Scarecrows, their creative decoration, with contests, events and much, much more.

We were tasked with incorporating all these design elements together; starting with the iconic coastal scapes of the central coasts’ shore-cliff’s, pine-tree’s (plus area-appropriate foliage), and vast Pacific Ocean views that Cambria is known for. Being that the conference takes place during the height of Cambria’s Scarecrow Festival, in-conjunction with CABEC’s 2023 Conference tag-line, “Something to Crow About;” our early design iterations included scarecrows and crows. El Pachuco Zoot Suits provided us with professional photography for us to incorporate and format into each month of the calendar year. We designed the actual days-of-the-year from scratch with major holidays observed; in-conjunction with the birthdays of notable contributors to the Pachuco movement like Edward James Olmos, Tin-Tan, and Phyllis Estrella (Founder of El Pachuco Zoot Suits), and many more…

For the images with horizontal orientation, we left those unencumbered for the beauty of the photography to be seen uninhibited. For the images with vertical orientation, we designed custom graphics that complimented not only the image itself; but also the holiday of note of each particular month.

We recreated a variety of original graphic design elements like thee El Pachuco Zoot Suits store-front using Adobe Illustrator. We then photoshopped a picture of owners Phyllis & Ray Estrella on the back cover with an excerpt (and social media links) of El Pachuco Zoot Suits.

Ruby Rose Yepez Professional Bio Page Design

Ruby Rose Yepez (aka, “my Wife“), ‘commissioned’ Republic Design Company (aka, “told me, Rafael Yepez, to get to work“), on the design of her Professional Bio Page.

Ruby Rose Yepez is a seasoned building industry professional and will be speaking at the FCA Annual Meeting 2021. She was asked to submit a Pro Bio of herself and her background to exhibit her professional accomplishments, associations, and attributes. She created the following word document with accompanying head-shot.

First, we started with a new head-shot taken with an iPhone 11 in Portrait mode. We took this photo in our back yard with our beautiful bougainvillea’s as our backdrop. Using Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop, I gently highlighted the colors and details of the photo featured below:

I used graphic icons to delineate and highlight her tag-line/motto, “Service • Community • Sustainablity,” her title at SCE, her employer’s website, and her Linkedin web-link-address: www.linkedin.com/in/ladyrubyrose. Then, I collected the logo’s of the entities she’s affiliated with that I could find on the internet in vector format. The logo’s I couldn’t find in vector format, I vectored myself. Vector graphics are optimal when laying out graphics like this inside Adobe Illustrator.

Joey ‘Dj Swift’ Montano, commissioned Republic Design Company, for the design, implementation, and production of his Dj Swift Music Logo, Brand, Identity Design and T-Shirt Screen-Printing.

Dj Swift wanted to change the type-font of his previous logo up a bit to a cursive-script font style that embodied a classic baseball inspired design; along with the inclusion of his website on the underlying ribbon below his Dj Swift name. We then created ‘grooves’, similar to that found on a vinyl record, along with the city-scape cut into the bottom-half of the record.

CABEC hosts a yearly conference in a different city in California. This years conference is set to take place in Palm Springs, California. The CABEC conference committee wanted to design a logo that encapsulated the title of this years conference, along with natural elements “wind, water, and sun, (and a lil’ palm tree).”

Founder and Principal of Phil’s Custom Painting, Felipe Estrada S., has been in-business for over 10 years. They specialize in custom paint job projects for in-and-around the home and/or office.

The goal was to create an online presence where current and perspective clients could contact them for project opportunities. We created a wordpress website that featured them in a variety of ways.

Their welcome page is vibrant and informative, complete with welcome, about, service area, testimonials, contact, gallery, and location. It also features Phil’s Custom Painting on popular social media platforms such as: facebook, twitter, linkedin, google+, and instagram.
