Whoskie’s Barbershop Logo Design

In light of the Washington Nationals World Series Championship victory last night; I thought I’d share this recent logo design I re-imagined for my barber Ruben Soriano (ig: @barber_gang3) of Whoskie’s Barbershop in South El Monte, CA.

The premise was to employ the iconic “W” of the center of the Washington Nationals logo and mold fonts to work with and around the “W,” as-well-as use the same color scheme as it’s predecessor.

The “W” is also used as a common counter-culture reference to “West Side,” or “West Coast,” most famously popularized by Westside Connection and other Hip-Hop artist of the time. This, in conjunction with the name of “Whoskies Barbershop,” makes for an amalgamation of similar tastes and shared design livery.

Despite what you may believe, “Actors and Actresses need to eat!” The reality is, it takes a small village to put together movies and films. “Ready To Serve • Motion Picture Catering” is a collective of world-class Chef’s that serve a specific niche (Catering) in the Hollywood/Movie/Film/Motion Picture industry. They wanted to employ “Tools-of-the-trade (aka cooking utensils),” in their logo design. After several versions and variations, the Ready To Serve logo was, well, “Ready To Serve…”

After clear communication and fine-tuning the Ready To Serve • Motion Picture Catering logo/brand/identity to the principals satisfaction; we then proceeded in formulating the Ready To Serve • Motion Picture Catering Logo Style-Guide. The Logo Style-Guide is an instruction sheet that helps clients understand the various file-formats their logo is saved in and what the different uses are intended for. We at Republic Design Company pride ourselves on educating our clients on proper logo usage techniques and are always available to assist our clients on an on-going basis…

Many thanks to Ready To Serve • Motion Picture Catering  for the opportunity to be of assistance.

The Principals of Fernandez Jewelers commissioned Republic Design Company for the design, production, and implementation of their Business Cards, Screenprint T-Shirts, and Website.

First: Logo Recreation… Fernandez Jewelers (conveniently located inside the Centerpoint Mall in Oxnard, CA), is one-in-the-same with Fernandez Fine Jewelry (conveniently located inside the Pacificview Mall in Ventura, CA). We were not asked to design the original logo/brand/identity for either names. We were asked to redesign and recreate them for marketing collateral print and production. As such, we recreated the logo(‘s) in vector format in both color and grayscale.

Now that we had the logos recreated, it was time to start designing the layout of the business cards. Since each storefront is located inside shopping malls prominent to their local market(s), we included corresponding malls logo to each storefront logo/brand/identity respectively.

After business card design and production, we began designing t-shirts, (v-necks and crew), for both Men and Women, in a variety of colors. They are intended for promotional product giveaway to help raise brand awareness.

Next up was the design and implementation of their online presence, www.fernandezjewelers.net. The website was built on WordPress and features all necessary information regarding Fernandez Jewelers. Social media placement amongst popular social media platforms (facebook, twitter, google+, pinterest, and instagram), Fernandez Jewelers is easy to find both online and instore.

“A DAY IN THE LIFE OF…” is a mini documentary profiling Republic Design Company and it’s Principal, (me), “Rafael_Republic.”

With the help of Javier Ordoñez and Jonathan (“Johnny Savage“) Avila of Basic Space Studio; the dynamic duo filmed and edited this mini documentary and helped Republic Design Company bring this project to fruition.

Now-a-days, having a website isn’t enough. The power of video across thee Internet is rapidly becoming a formidable tool that all businesses should employ if having a web presence is vital to a company’s viability. The SEO (Search Engine Optimization) opportunities and capabilities of having a video profiling a (your) company is near astronomical.

With this in-mind, the problem we posed ourselves was, “how do we show existing and perspective clients what Republic Design Company does.” Moreover, “how can Republic Design Company demonstrate ‘graphic design’ in a relatable, tangible light to a perspective viewer?” The seemingly easy solution actually turned-out to be more difficult than anticipated. The reason being is that there are lots of ways to answer these “problems.” The answer we selected was to employ an honest/natural approach by being casual and informative of “Republic Design Company’s day-to-day operations…” The result is the video you see before you…

Please view, share with your audience, and contact us for opportunities to collaborate on mutually beneficial projects.

“We thank you for your attention, and not to mention, your love and affection…”

– @Rafael_Republic
