CABEC (California Association of Building Energy Consultants) commissioned Republic Design Company for the design and implementation of the CABEC 2023 Conference “Something to Crow About” Logo Design.

CABEC 2023 Conference “Something to Crow About” Logo Identity Design

This years CABEC Conference is set to take place in Cambria, California at the beautiful Cambria Pines Lodge. This coastal city is host to a October-month-long celebration aptly titled, “Cambria Scarecrow Festival.” It’s the celebration of, (you guessed it), Scarecrows, their creative decoration, with contests, events and much, much more.

We were tasked with incorporating all these design elements together; starting with the iconic coastal scapes of the central coasts’ shore-cliff’s, pine-tree’s (plus area-appropriate foliage), and vast Pacific Ocean views that Cambria is known for. Being that the conference takes place during the height of Cambria’s Scarecrow Festival, in-conjunction with CABEC’s 2023 Conference tag-line, “Something to Crow About;” our early design iterations included scarecrows and crows. The ‘Scary Crow’ ended up being the winning and final design…

After our clients selected the featured logo design, we then proceeded in creating the CABEC 2023 Conference Logo Style-Guide. The Logo Style-Guide is an instruction sheet that helps clients understand the various file-formats their logo is saved in and what the different uses are intended for. We at Republic Design Company pride ourselves on educating our clients on proper logo usage techniques and are always available to assist our clients on an on-going basis…

Next up is a series of marketing collateral and design elements like prospectus and program to reach new and existing sponsors and patrons alike.

Ruby Rose Yepez Professional Bio Page Design

Ruby Rose Yepez (aka, “my Wife“), ‘commissioned’ Republic Design Company (aka, “told me, Rafael Yepez, to get to work“), on the design of her Professional Bio Page.

Ruby Rose Yepez Pro Bio Page

Ruby Rose Yepez is a seasoned building industry professional and will be speaking at the FCA Annual Meeting 2021. She was asked to submit a Pro Bio of herself and her background to exhibit her professional accomplishments, associations, and attributes. She created the following word document with accompanying head-shot.

Ruby Rose Yepez Original Bio Page

First, we started with a new head-shot taken with an iPhone 11 in Portrait mode. We took this photo in our back yard with our beautiful bougainvillea’s as our backdrop. Using Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop, I gently highlighted the colors and details of the photo featured below:

Before/After Ruby Rose Yepez Headshot

I used graphic icons to delineate and highlight her tag-line/motto, “Service • Community • Sustainablity,” her title at SCE, her employer’s website, and her Linkedin web-link-address: www.linkedin.com/in/ladyrubyrose. Then, I collected the logo’s of the entities she’s affiliated with that I could find on the internet in vector format. The logo’s I couldn’t find in vector format, I vectored myself. Vector graphics are optimal when laying out graphics like this inside Adobe Illustrator.

The following layout is an alternate design of Ruby Rose’s Professional Bio.

As of this posting, I am happy to convey that she approves of said design(‘s) contained here-in and we are still ‘happily married.’

CABEC (California Association of Building Energy Consultants) Mentorship Committee commissioned Republic Design Company for the design and implementation of thee CABEC Mentorship Logo/Identity and Tri-Fold Brochures.

CABEC Mentorship Logo

“Mentorship,” (as defined by Google), is, “the guidance provided by a mentor, especially an experienced person in a company or educational institution. A period of time during which a person receives guidance from a mentor.” So the idea behind this concept is a simple ‘hand-shake,’ between ‘mentor,’ and ‘mentee.’ It’s supposed-to evoke the feeling of the beginning of a relation/mentor-ship. A sort-of, “helping-hand,” if-you-will…
