CABEC (California Association of Building Energy Consultants) commissioned Republic Design Company for the design and implementation of the CABEC 2023 Conference “Something to Crow About” Logo Design.

This years CABEC Conference is set to take place in Cambria, California at the beautiful Cambria Pines Lodge. This coastal city is host to a October-month-long celebration aptly titled, “Cambria Scarecrow Festival.” It’s the celebration of, (you guessed it), Scarecrows, their creative decoration, with contests, events and much, much more.

We were tasked with incorporating all these design elements together; starting with the iconic coastal scapes of the central coasts’ shore-cliff’s, pine-tree’s (plus area-appropriate foliage), and vast Pacific Ocean views that Cambria is known for. Being that the conference takes place during the height of Cambria’s Scarecrow Festival, in-conjunction with CABEC’s 2023 Conference tag-line, “Something to Crow About;” our early design iterations included scarecrows and crows. Ruby Rose Yepez is a seasoned building industry professional and will be speaking at the FCA Annual Meeting 2021. She was asked to submit a Pro Bio of herself and her background to exhibit her professional accomplishments, associations, and attributes. She created the following word document with accompanying head-shot.

First, we started with a new head-shot taken with an iPhone 11 in Portrait mode. We took this photo in our back yard with our beautiful bougainvillea’s as our backdrop. Using Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop, I gently highlighted the colors and details of the photo featured below:

I used graphic icons to delineate and highlight her tag-line/motto, “Service • Community • Sustainablity,” her title at SCE, her employer’s website, and her Linkedin web-link-address: www.linkedin.com/in/ladyrubyrose. Then, I collected the logo’s of the entities she’s affiliated with that I could find on the internet in vector format. The logo’s I couldn’t find in vector format, I vectored myself. Vector graphics are optimal when laying out graphics like this inside Adobe Illustrator.

Whoskie’s Barbershop Logo Design

In light of the Washington Nationals World Series Championship victory last night; I thought I’d share this recent logo design I re-imagined for my barber Ruben Soriano (ig: @barber_gang3) of Whoskie’s Barbershop in South El Monte, CA.

The premise was to employ the iconic “W” of the center of the Washington Nationals logo and mold fonts to work with and around the “W,” as-well-as use the same color scheme as it’s predecessor.

The “W” is also used as a common counter-culture reference to “West Side,” or “West Coast,” most famously popularized by Westside Connection and other Hip-Hop artist of the time. This, in conjunction with the name of “Whoskies Barbershop,” makes for an amalgamation of similar tastes and shared design livery.

Joey ‘Dj Swift’ Montano, commissioned Republic Design Company, for the design, implementation, and production of his Dj Swift Music Logo, Brand, Identity Design and T-Shirt Screen-Printing.

Dj Swift wanted to change the type-font of his previous logo up a bit to a cursive-script font style that embodied a classic baseball inspired design; along with the inclusion of his website on the underlying ribbon below his Dj Swift name. We then created ‘grooves’, similar to that found on a vinyl record, along with the city-scape cut into the bottom-half of the record.

After our client approved the featured logo design, we then proceeded in the creation of the Dj Swift Music Logo Style-Guide. Alejandro Menchaca requested we develop a series of logo design concepts centered in-and-around his initials, “A.M..” He also requested we use Stanford(‘s) and University of Southern California’s color guard(‘s) as these are both his Alma Mater(‘s). Below are Three (3) rounds of logo design explorations we created for Alejandro. The final logo design featured above encapsulated the look, feel, and essence Alejandro was aiming for. The ‘slash’ between the letter ‘A’ and letter ‘M’ inside Alejandro Menchaca’s initials, represents ‘division and conflict’. ‘A/M’ (Alejandro / Menchaca) ‘is the bridge to resolve it.’

We expanded the logo/brand/identity of the Law Offices of Alejandro Menchaca logo into the design of Alejandro’s Business Cards. Important to Alejandro in the design of his business cards, was the inclusion of his 3 law offices: Beverly Hills, South Pasadena, and Newport Beach. We placed his newly created logo/brand/identity on the front; along with the cities in which his 3 law offices are located in as the main focal point(‘s). On the opposite side, we put Alejandro’s full-name, title, office addresses and contact info.

Enrique “Rick” Montaño, along with his brother Daniel “Danny” Montaño, commissioned Republic Design Company for the design and implementation of their VC Property Brothers Logo, Business Cards and Website Design (www.vcpropertybrothers.com).

VC Property Brothers is co-op of brothers Enrique and Daniel Montaño who are both Realtors ® at RE/MAX Gold Coast Realtors in Ventura, CA. It is a take on thee popular HGTV show “Property Brothers,” where twin brothers Jonathan and Drew Scott aim to help couples find fixer-uppers and transform them into their dream homes. Similarly, the “VC Property Brothers,” aim to do the same, in the Ventura County market.

To start. The VC Property Brothers asked we create a logo for them, that encapsulated who they were/their essence so-to-speak. After several design variations, we quite literally took the silhouette of their main, combined, profile picture, that their existing and future marketing campaign was going to be centered around; and use that as the foundation of their logo design. It is set inside a simplified house silhouette that doubles for an “up” arrow, signifying upward mobility and prosperity both, for them and for their clients they humbly serve. Lastly, we made sure to include the VC Property Brothers title inside the logo design, surrounding the perimeter of the logo, in a circular fashion.

Next, it was time to move onto the design and production of their business cards. The business cards production needed to complement the ‘dapper’ look-and-feel of Enrique and Daniel Montaño’s profile picture. They opted for a 16 point card stock with silk-laminate look-and-feel, along with spot UV gloss on certain portions of the graphics of the business cards. We built the VC Property Brothers website on WordPress.com. We at Republic Design Company love working in wordpress because, “IT’S FREE!” Only fee our clients have to pay is the annual domain name purchase (which runs approximately $15.ºº on GoDaddy or WordPress).

IDX (Internet Data Exchange) is how MLS listings end up on a website.

Also known as Broker Reciprocity, IDX encompasses the policies, rules, and software that allow listings from the MLS database to be displayed publicly.

Anytime you see properties on a website that came from an MLS, it was made possible through IDX.

Most real estate agents and brokers use IDX to simply display MLS listings or home search tools on their website, but as home buyers have become more Internet-savvy, IDX has evolved to encompass more. Agents today have the option to use basic home search tools provided by their MLS, or build more advanced IDX solutions; usually with the help of an IDX vendor.

First, as the name of the company evokes, “101 Roofing & Construction,” draws a strong affinity to thee 101 freeway; which runs throughout/connects it’s service area of Los Angeles, Ventura, and Santa Barbara Counties. As-such, we wanted to combine visual similarities of “roofing and/or roofs,” along with the iconic 101 freeway shield. The following are 5 design comps/variations we originally came-up-with…

After client selected logo/identity (at top of this wordpress entry), we then proceeded to create an online presence as featured at http://www.101Roofing.com.

Client specified that they wanted to be featured on a vast array of popular social media platforms, (facebook, twitter, google+, tumblr, pintrest, linkedin, instagram). We created custom buttons+links for previous/current/perspective clients to add/follow/be-friend 101 Roofing & Construction, “all over the place, (so-to-speak).”

Concurrently, in the natural course of design discovery, we wanted to continue to include iconic visuals associated with 101 Freeway crest, now infused with it’s “Roofing & Construction” aesthetics. The result is a “Ventura Freeway-esque” inspired adornment, complete with iconic green freeway signs, freeway trussing, whimsical palm trees/shrubbery, light-posts, and blue skies…

Client also wanted to address ambiguity of service area. As such, we created a semi-topographical map of the Los Angeles, Ventura, and Santa Barbara Counties area and listed every single city in their “Service Area.”
